New Arizona law limits dental therapists to tribal settings, underserved areas

Phoenix — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed legislation May 16 that allows dental therapists to work in tribal settings, federally qualified health centers, federal look-alike facilities, community health centers and private dental practices that contract with FQHCs.

Improving U.S. health literacy highlighted in report

Dental professionals interested in health literacy can read at no cost the proceedings of a 2017 workshop that reviewed community interventions that tackle low health literacy.
In May, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine released “Community-Based Health Literacy Interventions: Proceedings of a Workshop.” The book, available to download online, features details from a July 2017 workshop of the academy’s Roundtable on Health Literacy.
